സാവിത്ര്യുവാച ।
തപസാ ധര്മമാരാധ്യ പുഷ്കരേ ഭാസ്കരഃ പുരാ ।
ധര്മം സൂര്യഃസുതം പ്രാപ ധര്മരാജം നമാമ്യഹമ് ॥ 1 ॥
സമതാ സർവഭൂതേഷു യസ്യ സർവസ്യ സാക്ഷിണഃ ।
അതോ യന്നാമ ശമനമിതി തം പ്രണമാമ്യഹമ് ॥ 2 ॥
യേനാംതശ്ച കൃതോ വിശ്വേ സർവേഷാം ജീവിനാം പരമ് ।
കാമാനുരൂപം കാലേന തം കൃതാംതം നമാമ്യഹമ് ॥ 3 ॥
ബിഭര്തി ദംഡം ദംഡായ പാപിനാം ശുദ്ധിഹേതവേ ।
നമാമി തം ദംഡധരം യഃ ശാസ്താ സർവജീവിനാമ് ॥ 4 ॥
വിശ്വം ച കലയത്യേവ യഃ സർവേഷു ച സംതതമ് ।
അതീവ ദുര്നിവാര്യം ച തം കാലം പ്രണമാമ്യഹമ് ॥ 5 ॥
തപസ്വീ ബ്രഹ്മനിഷ്ഠോ യഃ സംയമീ സംജിതേംദ്രിയഃ ।
ജീവാനാം കര്മഫലദസ്തം യമം പ്രണമാമ്യഹമ് ॥ 6 ॥
സ്വാത്മാരാമശ്ച സർവജ്ഞോ മിത്രം പുണ്യകൃതാം ഭവേത് ।
പാപിനാം ക്ലേശദോ യസ്തം പുണ്യമിത്രം നമാമ്യഹമ് ॥ 7 ॥
യജ്ജന്മ ബ്രഹ്മണോംഽശേന ജ്വലംതം ബ്രഹ്മതേജസാ ।
യോ ധ്യായതി പരം ബ്രഹ്മ തമീശം പ്രണമാമ്യഹമ് ॥ 8 ॥
ഇത്യുക്ത്വാ സാ ച സാവിത്രീ പ്രണനാമ യമം മുനേ ।
യമസ്താം ശക്തിഭജനം കര്മപാകമുവാച ഹ ॥ 9 ॥
ഇദം യമഷ്ടകം നിത്യം പ്രാതരുത്ഥായ യഃ പഠേത് ।
യമാത്തസ്യ ഭയം നാസ്തി സർവപാപാത്പ്രമുച്യതേ ॥ 10 ॥
മഹാപാപീ യദി പഠേന്നിത്യം ഭക്തിസമന്വിതഃ ।
യമഃ കരോതി സംശുദ്ധം കായവ്യൂഹേന നിശ്ചിതമ് ॥ 11 ॥
